Too many flourishes

It's difficult to concentrate on the analysis because of Lakdawala's hyperbole, strange metaphors, and literary flourishes. This is supposed to be a chess book, not a collection of idiosyncratic essays. Perhaps the author fancies himself a 19th century man of letters -- but his style is singularly inappropriate for annotating chess games.

I loved the short stories in "Weekend Shorts"

I loved the short stories in "Weekend Shorts". If you haven't had the chance to read anything of Ms. Ereharts, this is the book to start. "Dating With a Russian Flair" was delightful to read and kept me guessing until the end. BUT my favorites are "The CEO" and "The Hole". She has a flare with her writing with a little biting edge of karma. I would love her to continue both her short stories and her books. Also a great read "Out of Time"

Almost too much fun!

Ms Erehart once again gives us a glimpse into her wild imagination...and what a fun, exhausting ride! Favorites were "Larry" (a sweet, poignant story) and "Homer and the General." Laugh out loud fun. A must read. Hoping for more from Ms. Erehart soon.

twisted endings make great reads.

I loved these short stories, although a few were too short. I really enjoyed the twisted endings on the stories and Liked the way the author drew you in and kept you there. Great job, I would love to read more stories by this author and hope to read a full length novel.

I liked it....it just wasn't my favorite

First, I think it is worth saying that there were moments when the dialogue gave me goosebumps, so that's a plus.

I don't think I am a huge fan of novellas. Too short for me to feel like I really spent any time with the characters, or got the chance to understand them. That being said...this was definitely one of the better novellas I have read.

Pros:
- Jace was romantic as all get-out. (swoon-worthy proposal)
- He was a good possessive male character
- I liked that the guy, in the end, was making the sacrifices so the girl could have her dream

Cons:
- I don't think the title fit the story at all
- Just because it is a novella, doesn't mean it has to be THAT short

4 stars! No Strings Attached (book 1) is a quick, sexy friends-to-lovers novella about a night of wild passion!

Heat pooled between her legs, and a familiar ache worked its way down her belly. Jace took one last lick that went a little higher than necessary, then stood and downed the shot. He stared at her, his lids heavy. "Relax, Hayden," he whispered. And then his mouth was on hers."

No Strings Attached is the brief story of Hayden Summers who, on the eve of her departure to the Middle East to work as a photojournalist for the Time magazine, heads out in search of a one night stand. She is trying to erase memories of a bad relationship and move on. And an in case she does not return from her assignment she wants a night of passion.

Hayden and her photographer assistant find themselves at her best friend since childhood, Jace Jennings' night club. Ever since she informed him of her departure he has been distance and on the edge. They have a body shot, followed by tension and some harsh words causing Hayden to drink entirely too much before making plans for a rendezvous only to end up locked in a storage room with Jace...

"He looked away, and for the first time ever, she couldn't place the emotions that were scrawled across his face. He was still mad she was leaving, obviously."

Hero: Jace Jennings/26 years/bar owner/black hair/amber-brown eyes

No Strings Attached is alternating between Jace's and Hayden's POVs. Less than 100 pages long it's a well-written, quick and sexy romp with a HFN ending that made me want to know more about them. And author just recently announced this will be a series.

A Sexy & Sweet Friends to Lovers Story!

I love, love, love friends to lovers stories and Nicolette Day penned a great one with No Strings Attached. This one is definitely a winner in my book if you ask me. The writing was brilliant. I loved Nicolette Day's voice and writing style in addition to the plot of this story. No Strings Attached was nicely executed in just 62 pages.

For 62 pages, Nicolette Day kept me glued to this story right from the beginning until the end without a hint of boredom. Despite the shortness of the story, the pacing was perfect and the author succeeded in not making Jace and Hayden's story feel rushed. As the reader, I could feel the chemistry between Hayden and Jace right from the moment they eyed each other in the club and the sexual tension was off the charts. Oh yes, and how could I not mention that body shot in the club?! That scene was H-O-T to the max. And what about the sex? I'll just comment that the sex was red flaming and toe curling hotness!

As for the characters, they were all engaging, both the main and secondary characters. Not did I only loved Hayden and Jace, but Lilly (Hayden's best friend) and Nate (Jace's brother) as well. Ms. Day had me salivating for the alpha and panty-melting Jace in seconds. I even had my eyes on Nate too! Talk about getting hit with major testosterone.

Overall, No Strings Attached was an engaging, steamy and romantic read with a beautiful ending that will surely satisfy readers. Novellas are a love of mine and I gobbled this one up like chocolate. I was sad to see it end & wished it was longer because I couldn't get enough of Jace and Hayden which is always a good thing! I enjoyed No Strings Attached so much that I bought my own copy despite receiving an ARC for review. Now, I am impatiently waiting for Nate and Lilly's story! Well done, Ms. Nicolette Day.
