There is NOTHING as humiliating as realizing that your parents were smarter then you thought.

And there is no luckier person on earth than one who was raised by loving, wise parents. This author and his siblings were born to two intelligent, hard-working Chinese immigrants who successfully made a good life for themselves in a strange new land. They never became wealthy, but they gave their children the greatest "wealth" of all - secure childhoods and a lifetime of good examples.
While the crux of this wonderful book is Mama Gee's constant supply of advice (from Penicillin to Pork Rinds) her continuing influence on the lives of her children and grandchildren comes not from what she said, but from the role model she provided. I don't know when I've read anything more entertaining and touching than Gee's stories of his warm-hearted, but tough-minded mother and the lessons that she taught.
Frugality, hard work, generosity, and gratitude are qualities that we only begin to really appreciate as we raise our own families. And the most incredible thing about Mrs. Gee is that she has never stopped learning and growing herself. She's a remarkable woman and this is a great book.

Funny book full of musings.

I Can’t Believe My Mom Was Right is a collection of musings, stories, and quips based on the author’s mother. It encompasses all of those things we have probably heard our parents say, but never realized how funny or correct they were until we grew up and began experiencing life as an adult. I like how the author groups the stories. You can read them randomly or just one at a time for a quick giggle. This might even make a good Mother’s Day gift for the mother or mother type figure in your life.

Wonderful and Practical!

Just finished reading this wonderful book! I learned so much from parenting to running a household, and of course everything else in life! Can't wait to put some of the wisdom into practice! I would suggest a future biography about the mom's upbringing and education background. She is such an amazing woman, always so positive and so charismatic. I would like to know what made her the way she is.
