Nice mix of puzzles for a recreational cruciverbalist

Over all a nice collection of crossword puzzles. No obscure catch phrases you've never heard of and you won't need a history degree or working knowledge of 14th century Japanese Kongorikishi to solve them. The average crossword solver will find a nice mix in this collection. Some are harder than other but all are solvable eventually.
I was torn between 3 or 4 stars because some of the puzzles are kind of easy. After mulling it over though, I decided being able to breeze through a couple here and there is a nice change up while doing them.

fun fresh puzzles

I've switched to Peter Gordon's puzzle books from Will Shortz's NY Times puzzles. These are a bit tougher given the same day of the week in my opinion. I think theses are more like NY Times Wednesdays. The spiral binding, 72 puzzles per book, good paper and print quality are all good features. Most of all, the themes and vocabulary are fresher and more fun than the NY Times, which get a bit repetitive, in my opinion.

it's not too challenging

I had his other one and it was great. I couldn't fill in everything in ten minutes, but if I came back I'd usually be able to get it all. It's so hard to find the right challenge. I used to do the Times daily in Ny when I was working and by Thursday my IQ had dropped significantly. Sunday was hit or miss and I know now that there were different levels of difficulty with those as well. Oh well. Keep on practicing.
